Report of the Commission for Denominational Reorganization
The General Board of the Missionary Church Incorporated (MCI) in April 2006 approved the forming of a committee who would have as their mandate to study the issue of the restructuring of the MCI. The purpose of the potential restructuring was to better position the MCI for ministry in today's world.
The Commission for Denominational Reorganization includes: Milt Gerber, Bill Walter, Paul Robbins, Terry Linhart and Jack French. These men have worked many hours in trying to accomplish the directive given to them by General Board. They will report to the General Board on October 9th and 10th and then to General Conference in July 2009 at Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana. In their report they will be offering their recommendations for a fresh ministry vision and supporting structure.
Following the General Board meeting, the plan was released for review by pastors and laity by hardcopy and e-mail attachment. The District Superintendent called for a special meeting of credentialed persons of the North Central District on November 6th at the Beulah Missionary Church, Goshen, Indiana to discuss the proposal. This was a very productive meeting and there were several questions raised with good discussion. We will review this plan again on February 28 at Special Conference and at our Annual District Conference on May 8. Please place these dates on your calendar!
